At the moment the airport Frankfurt has a capacity of roundabout 460.000 passengers a Year. Until the year 2020 it will be 700.000. The Servers Capacity of the ca. 400 Servers is already prepared for this immense growth. In order to stay in competition to other Aiports – the Fraport AG plans heavy investments to their infrastructure.
Between 2009 and 2012 Terminal 1 is planned to be expanded to the West. The cost of these 800 Meter long gate are at about 500 Million Euros. The cornerstone for this act has already been layn in September 2009. The Plan for this expansion was designed by the architect’s office gmp. The Terminal will have four floors for up to 6 Million passangers a Year. Some of Lufthansas buildings in the western part of the airport had to be demolished fot the expansion. They planned to have space for 7 further Planes at the new gate. This will give another 800 places of employment to the region.
